This website is where I store my thoughts and notes, mainly on design, design thinking, sustainability, creativity, creative community, creative economy, creative industry, creative city, comics, graphic diary, and on any activities I am currently busy with.

I was born and grew up in Jakarta, but have been living in Bandung since I moved to this city to start studying at the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), where I currently work as a lecturer/researcher, at the Industrial Product Design Program. I skipped Bandung for about 10 years, though, when I pursued my study, at Design Academy Eindhoven (Master of Arts in Design Research) and Delft University of Technology (Doctor), in The Netherlands. I returned to Bandung in 2007; since then, I’ve been active in organisations such as Bandung Creative City Forum (BCCF) as a co-founder (2008) and chairman for BCCF 3rd organisational period (2018-2021). In 2015, I was involved in the initiation of Indonesia Creative Cities Network (ICCN), a hub organisation that has gathered cross-community forums and initiatives in more than 240 cities/regencies from all over Indonesia, where I’m currently assigned as its Executive Committee (2023-2025).

Other than those, I am also a former member of The Indonesian Young Academy of Science (ALMI) (2016-2020), a member of The Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) since 2021; and a Climate Leader for The Climate Reality Project (TCRP) Indonesia since 2011. An Expert Council for Bandung Creative Economy Committee (Create.bdg) since 2021; Advisor for West Java Creative Economy and Innovation Committee (KREASI Jabar) since 2020; and a member of the Global Creative Economy Council since 2018. In early 2024, joined the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC) as a research fellow.

I make graphic diary and co-founded an independent publishing company, CAB Publishing, that focuses on graphic diary, graphic travelogue, and children’s comics. My latest books were published too long ago: “Coming Home” (Epigram Books, Singapore, 2020), “Retour a Bandung” (Ca et La, 2016), and “Bloemen Blij, Plukken Wij” in Liquid City vol.3 (an anthology by Image Comics, 2014).
